Breaking the Mold

A New Breed of Aluminum Shallow Water skiff

At Macuch Craft, we are not only “breaking the mold” by building custom skiffs from tough, lightweight, low-maintenance aluminum but also by creating works of art that push the boundaries of what an aluminum poling skiff can be.

Traditional skiff design has descended or adapted from a few archetypal shapes — a tradition that has remained largely unchanged. We sought to diverge from that tradition with a completely original design never before seen in the aluminum boating world. Our flowing, organic curvature, seamless transitions, aggressive styling, and oversized deck space set us apart from our competition and set you apart from the rest of the skiff world.

Using our in-house fabrication and CAD design and a background in Mechanical Engineering, we have over-engineered our hulls to not only perform extremely well in any environment, but also withstand years of use and the occasional inevitable accident. Keep reading below for details on what sets our hull apart from the competition!

The Enterprise 17

Light, beamy, and shallow, our first model can comfortably fish three adults in less than 10” of water while still holding its own in open water and turning heads at the ramp.

Uncompromising Craftsmanship

At Macuch Craft, we have put in the hours to design a build process that ensures our hulls meet the highest quality standards. We have gone to great lengths to refine our technique and reduce the chance of variations or human error. We pride ourselves on quality first and foremost. Highlights of our materials and process include:

  • Constructed on custom-fabricated “rotisserie” fixture

  • 0.18” 5052 aluminum hull

  • 0.12” 5052 aluminum deck

  • 0.18” boxed stringers for hull strength

  • Overkill underdeck support structure

  • Large 2” bent tubing

  • Full-length keel reinforcing strip for impacts

  • Full hull sandblasting and powder coating

About Macuch Craft

Macuch Craft was founded by Louis Macuch, who hails from a background in fabrication and design. Before Macuch Craft, Louis spent the majority of his life modifying and fabricating classic cars and building hotrods. In his free time, he designed and built custom mini jetboats, which introduced him to the aluminum boat design world.

Louis was born in Georgia but raised on the waters near Beaufort, South Carolina, and has always had a passion for fishing. From early on, he noticed a lack of quality aluminum flats boats on the market and saw an opportunity to apply his skills. Using his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Georgia, an extensive background in fabrication, and many years of CAD design experience, Louis began working on the Enterprise 17 design in 2022 and completed Hull #1 in the summer of 2024. The Voyager 16, a true microskiff, is in currently in the works.
